The Hand of Fate: three keys and the hidden crypt route

Find the Treasury Key and Strange Stone Key, move the treasury bookcase, and navigate the two wall gaps beneath Father Florin's house to collect The Hand of Fate.

Updated Sep 8, 2026

The Hand of Fate is hidden below Father Florin's house, and its chest requires the Strange Stone Key. The Ancient Key from Florin's area opens the crypt route; it does not replace the key for the final chest. For that, you need the concealed cellar beneath the cathedral treasury.

Match each key to its door or chest

Collect the required keys before making the full descent to the weapon. That avoids reaching the chest only to discover another trip is necessary.

Item nameWhere this route obtains itWhat it opens
Ancient KeyNear Florin after the conversation beneath his houseAccess to the ancient crypt
Treasury KeyBy the ledger at the back of a cathedral side roomThe treasury in the cathedral courtyard
Strange Stone KeyThe altar at the end of the cellar behind the treasury's movable bookcaseThe chest containing The Hand of Fate

If the crypt is already accessible, begin with the cathedral ledger. If you already collected the Stone Key, skip to the two wall gaps below the house. Read the missing-key prompt on the lock rather than assuming that any ancient-looking key will work.

Follow Florin's daytime invitation

For a save that has not opened the crypt, visit Father Florin at Svartrau Cathedral during the day. The demonstrated approach finds him conducting a baptism. Accept confession, work through the available topics, and then select the dialogue that advances the conversation to receive the meeting objective.

This is the cooperative path shown in the recording. If your journal already contains the invitation, follow it directly to the building near the Western Gate, identified by the symbol of Saint Tobias's hand.

Continue the conversation below the house. The source describes obtaining the Ancient Key either through Florin or from the barrel beside him, so check that it actually entered your inventory before approaching the crypt door. Once the entrance is available, remember its location and collect the final chest key before going deeper.

Collect the Treasury Key by the ledger

The recorded collection route returns to the cathedral at night. Climb the scaffolding on its right-hand exterior to an upper opening, enter, and descend inside. Head towards the side room ahead; keep clear of the central altar if a hostile encounter is still waiting there.

At the back of the side room, inspect the ledger beside the painted windows. Check around the book until the Treasury Key pickup appears. Reading the ledger alone is not confirmation that you collected the key.

Move the bookcase and take the Stone Key

Leave through the cathedral's rear courtyard and unlock the treasury. Inspect the movable bookcase on the entrance level. Focus highlights the full piece of furniture. Move it to reveal the passage behind it, then follow that passage downstairs.

Continue to the altar at the back of the cellar. Approach the small stone object near the candles and use the Pick Up Stone Key prompt. Nearby robes and other objects are separate pickups; confirm the key before returning to the crypt.

Return through the two gaps in the crypt

With the Stone Key collected, return beneath Florin's house. Start in the first room containing a statue and follow this sequence:

  1. Go behind the statue. Squeeze through the narrow opening in the wall.
  2. Check the left wall of the next room. A second gap leads into the next part of the hidden route.
  3. Locate the landing across the broken section. The nighttime route uses vampire traversal to reach the passage on the far side.
  4. Continue downwards. Follow the route into the kobold cave area and find the chest that asks for the Stone Key.

08:16: after the first opening, a low gap is visible in the left wall. Keep going through this second gap.KhrazeGaming · YouTube · 08:16

The narrator also mentions a longer daytime route around the lower level. This guide follows the clearer nighttime demonstration. If you arrive by day and do not know the lower route, return to the entrance and adjust the time instead of trying to copy a vampire jump in human form.

Confirm The Hand of Fate in your inventory

Unlock the chest with the Stone Key and confirm The Hand of Fate among the loot or in your inventory. Other equipment can appear alongside it, so the first item's rarity colour is not a reliable completion check.

10:45: The Hand of Fate is visible as a legendary shortsword. Its four affixes support passive charge recovery, charge recovery from actions, Witchcraft cooldown, and Witchcraft damage.KhrazeGaming · YouTube · 10:45

The weapon suits a Witchcraft-focused approach that uses sword attacks between abilities. Its value comes from supporting that cycle as well as dealing weapon damage. The screenshot shows one level-26 item; compare your own damage, recovery values, and upgrade options when deciding whether to equip it.

For a locked chest or missing route, use the prompt to narrow the search: Treasury Key means the cathedral ledger; Strange Stone Key means the altar behind the treasury bookcase; a missing chest means retracing the statue opening and the second gap on the left. Each points to a different room.
